The Last Man
Fiction, Director: Ghassan Salhab, Lebanon 2006, 101 min., Arab. with En. ST
A mysterious serial killer haunts the streets of Beirut. His victims show bite marks and unexplainable anemia. Khalil is a doctor in the hospital to which the victims are sent. Something seems to connect him with the accidents. Khalil notices a subtle change in his body, which progressively alienates him and undermines his self control. Salhab’s intelligently designed vampire movie is a visceral and cold examination of the nation’s state, delving deeply into the tissue of the human body and society.
