In the presence of director Firas Khoury.
In a Palestinian high school in Galilee, Tamer (Mahmoud Bakri) and his friends lead an everyday student life until the arrival of the attractive Maysaa’ (Sereen Khass). To impress her, Tamer agrees to take part in an operation aiming to replace the Israeli flag at his school with a Palestinian one. Scheduled to take place on the eve of Israel’s Independence Day, a mourning day for Palestinians as it commemorates their dispossession and displacement, the implementation of this operation forces Tamer to face the social and psychological dissonance of being a Palestinian living under Israeli laws. This coming of Age story is Firas Khoury’s feature debut and premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. It won the Golden Pyramid for Best Film, the Best Actor Award for Mahmoud Bakri and the Audience Award at the 44th Cairo International Film Festival.
