In 1960, France detonated its first ever nuclear test bomb in Reggane, Algeria. The testing phase saw multiple atomic explosions on Algerian ground, contaminating soil, water and air in the surrounding areas for decades to come. Through a collage of French state-issued propaganda films on the supposed safety of atomic testing, Boomerang Atomic relays years of colonial violence from the perspective of the colonialists, subverting it to show the devastating effects on the native population.
