From a city’s heartbeat to a character’s psyche: A Master Class with Sound Designer Rana Eid

Acclaimed Lebanese sound designer Rana Eid has always been keen on exploring the conception of intricate soundscapes all over the Arab region. Through three films that ALFILM is presenting in its 15th edition, Eid addresses designing sounds for the cities of Khartoum in Goodbye Julia (Fiction, Sudan), Aden in The Burdened (Fiction, Yemen) and Mahdia in Machtat (documentary, Tunisia), but also finding the proper sounds of/for the protagonists of the three female-driven films, all battling against very patriarchal societies.
