After the unexpected death of her husband, Nawal struggles to cope with her everyday life, and that of her little family. Her despair comes to a head when she learns that after the death of his brother, her brother-in-law wants to seize her apartment. Determined to keep her home and provide stability for her daughter, Nawal resorts to a makeshift solution and falls further and further into a tailspin. The more time passes, the more difficult it becomes to maintain the façade, until she is finally faced with a huge dilemma that pushes her to question her beliefs. Nawal fights – against her fears and for her convictions. She fights to preserve her rightful inheritance, to secure her daughter’s future, with only three weeks to find a solution. Inshallah a Boy, premiered in the Critics’ Week of the 2023 edition of Cannes Film Festival, winning the Gan Foundation Award and the Rail d’Or Award for Best Feature Film.
