Babylon Berlin. Atlas of Arab Film in Early 20th Century Berlin
أطلس تاريخ الفيلم العربي في برلين
- > Walking Tour with Irit Neidhardt: Tuesday, 28 April 2026 · 17:00 | Hegelplatz | | Add to Calendar
At the intersection of Unter den Linden and Friedrichstraße, as well as in the Filmstadt district on the southern end of Friedrichstraße, numerous Arab-German encounters in the film industry took place between the 1910s and 1930s.
The walking tour brings this “tropical Germany” (Zafer Şenocak), a society where “there is a chaotic and unarticulated mass of growth, full of color and life, which effectively precludes any sensation of order” (Elias Canetti), out of obscurity and reveals parallels to the present day.
Duration ca. 2 hours
Meeting point: Hegelplatz at Dorotheenstraße in Berlin-Mitte cose to U-Bahnhof Friedrichstraße, ending at Theodor-Wolff-Park in southern Friedrichstraße close to U-Bahnhof Hallesches Tor
