Known as the “capital of the revolution,” Homs stood at the heart of the Syrian uprising. The city was witness to some of the earliest and most intense protests before enduring a devastating siege between 2011 and 2014. Years later, My Memory Is Full of Ghosts captures the realities of those who remained or returned to a city forever altered by war.
Through patient observations and static-camera compositions, the film reveals how war reshapes not just landscapes, but the very fabric of memory. The voices of residents, heard off-camera, bring a ghostly presence and reflect a community wrestling with a haunted past while tentatively rebuilding their lives amidst the ruins of the present.
Premiering at the Visions du Réel International Film Festival, My Memory Is Full of Ghosts received a Special Mention and has since garnered international recognition, including Best Arab Documentary Film at the El Gouna Film Festival and Best Film Award at Syrian Doc Days in Denmark.
